BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Senator Susan Collins visited Bangor Hydro Workers on Friday as they work to restore power to thousands of it's customers.
The most recent numbers from the company show around 6,500 customers still in the dark. Those outages are reported in Hancock, Washington and Penobscot County where extra line crews have been brought in from as far away as New Jersey. Both line crews and dispatchers have worked right through the night including Christmas to get resident's power restored.
"I know for a lot of people it was a pretty cold Christmas in the dark and they're very eager to get the power restored and I want them to know that literally every effort is being made including bringing in additional crews and additional resources," said Collins.
In the meetings that Senator Collins sat in on Friday, it was determined that power should be completely restored by Sunday in Penobscot County, Saturday in Washington County, and by the end of the day Wednesday in Hancock County.
