SEATTLE (NEWS CENTER) - For the first time in two years a player that started the year with the Sea Dogs catapulted his way to the big club in Boston a few months later.
2012 Sox minor league pitcher of the year Brandon Workman got his first call up after just two months in Portland and one in Pawtucket.
He's expected to provide depth in the bullpen following Andrew Miller's season ending foot injury and fellow reliever Alex Wilson being placed on the 15-day disabled list after with a sprained thumb.
It's the first time he'll be used a reliever since he pitched at the University of Texas more than three years ago.
In 16 starts between Portland and Triple A Pawtucket, Workman is 8-2 with a 3.12 E.R.A.
