Sea Dogs lose to Altoona on 9th inning homer

PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Mel Rojas' solo home run in the ninth inning off Sea Dogs releiver Miguel Celestino was the difference in 2-1 Altoona win over Portland.

The loss dropped the Sea Dogs (30-24) a game back of Binghamton for the Eastern League's Eastern Division lead. 

Brandon Workman pitched eight strong innings allowing only one run on three hits whilst striking out five batters. 

Michael Almanzar's tenth home run of the season in the bottom of the seventh tied the game at 1.  Charles Cutler's solo shot for the CUrve in the top half of the seventh broke the scoreless deadlock. 

Matt Barnes (3-1, 4.50) will start Sunday's rubber game scheduled for a 1 p.m. first pitch
