Gerry Durgin inducted into NIAAA HOF

NEWS CENTER - One of Maine's respected Athletic Directors is about to be recognized on a national level. Gerry Durgin who was a teacher, coach and athletic administrator in Maine for 38 years, will be inducted into the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association Hall of Fame next week out in San Antonio, Texas. Durgin has been either a coach, teacher and athletic administrator at Telstar, Fryeburg Academy, then Gorham for the last 38 years. 

This is not Durgin's first NIAAA recognition. Over his 20 years of involvement with the organization, Durgin received the NIAAA State Award of Merit in 1999, the NIAAA Distinguished Service Award in 2000, the NIAAA Award of Merit for Outstanding Leadership in Interscholastic Sports in 2010 and the National Federation of State High Schools Citation Award in 2002. 

Durgin talked about what it was like when he found out he was getting into the hall.

Durgin will be inducted into the hall next Tuesday. Congratulations to one of the best.
