WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WXII) -- Police in Winston Salem, North Carolina are looking into a report that one of the Salvation Army's red kettles was stolen Wednesday night at Hanes Mall.
A Salvation Army spokeswoman says one of the kettle workers was opening the door to let someone in at the Belk entrance when someone stole the red kettle and the money inside.
The victim, James Griffin, had been outside the mall for most of the day. He has been a bell ringer for several years.
"I was very hurt at whoever would take from God and the 24,000 people in this city and county we're trying to clothe, feed, and buy toys for," Griffin said.
