PALMETTO, Fla. (SNN) -- A loose cow evaded law enforcement, who finally caught the animal after chasing it for several miles and into a fenced Palmetto apartment complex, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office reports.
A citizen called about the loose cow walking in the 4700 block of Ellenton Gilette Road. Officers tried to contain the cow, which kept going around them, into the road and through Palmetto neighborhoods.
It continued to the 1700 block of U.S. 41. A deputy was able to direct it to the entrance of 301 Overpass Apartments in the 100 block of 10th Street West. Once inside, the entrance to the chain-link fenced complex was blocked with patrol vehicles.
As the owner was unknown at the time and the cow was considered a safety hazard, it was impounded.
