MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota (KARE) -- Four students are facing disciplinary action after allegedly carrying out a racially-charged activity at Washburn High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

A statement released Thursday by the Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) says on Friday, January 11, a small group of students hung a dark-skinned baby doll by its neck with a piece of string in one of Washburn's stairwells.

The incident was captured by school security cameras, and also recorded by the students with their cell phones and posted on social media.

Washburn Principal Carol Markham-Cousins says she learned about the incident after school Friday and took immediate action according to the district's code of conduct.

The school is working with MPS staff from Emergency Management, Safety and Security; Student Support Services; and Equity and Diversity to address this issue.

At this point it is unclear whether any of the four students has been suspended.
