(NBC News) -- The doors opened early and the shoppers poured through in waves Friday morning.
"They came for the prices, they came for the one-hour guarentee and we're really pleased with the results that we had," said Walmart Executive Vice President of General Merchandise Steve Bratspies.
They may not be looking for the same gifts, but there is one thing every shopper is hoping to find.
"It's Black Friday, half off, good deals," laughed shopper Elena Shutes.
The turnout was welcome news for retailers who have been worried, with one less week this year between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
