FORT MYERS, Florida (WBBH) -- The tornado is the most recent tragedy to impact children inside the normally secure confines of a school classroom. It's sparking conversation in Southwest Florida schools, like Canterbury School.
"When something happens like the tragedies with the tornadoes or Sandy Hook, the game changes and kids really need a concrete answer from someone like me or any other teacher," said Canterbury teacher Paula Sizemore.
On top of their schoolwork, students are trying to make sense of the tragedy.
"Really, we started contemplating what would happen if it were our community, and if it hit our school," said junior Carver Sorensen.
