Richard was born on Oct. 2, 1452.

He was killed in battle by Henry Tudor, who then assumed the throne as King Henry VII. 

Henry fought under the banner of a dragon, but softened his image upon taking power by switching his symbol to a rose with both red and white petals.  The different colors represented the warring families of York and Lancaster who were brought together under his rule.
