The Spanish-American War ended on Aug. 12, 1898.

Although, the US did gain control of Asuncion as a spoil of war, it came from a different war and a different enemy.  After World War II, Asuncion changed hands from Japan to the US.  Today, it's part of the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands.
