WINDHAM, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - The State Fire Marshal's Office has confirmed one fatality in an early morning fire at 13 Main Street in Windham.
Investigators say the victim is 25 year-old Parker Blanchart. His fiance, 25 year-old Annette Kowalik is being treated for smoke inhalation and minor burns at Maine Medical Center. She is expected to survive.
Five others were displaced when the fire broke out around 3:30 Sunday morning. It was reported by a passerby.
The Fire Marshal's office is still looking into a cause, but they do believe the fire is accidental.
The fire was put out in an hour, but there is heavy fire damage in the third floor and smoke and water damage in the first and second floors.
The Red Cross is assisting those displaced.
