Brooks was born on June 28, 1926.

Despite his tongue-in-cheek promise, a "Spaceballs" sequel has never happened.

However, Bill Pullman who starred in "Spaceballs" as Lone Star would once again fight aliens a few years later in "Independence Day."  A sequel to that movie is now in the works nearly 20 years after it came out.  So maybe there is still hope for a "Spaceballs" sequel after all.
