UMaine loses on late goal #8 Quinnipiac

Hamden, Conn. (NEWS CENTER) - Quinnipiac's Jordan Samuels-Thomas scored with 1:03 left in regulation to give the the eight-ranked Bobcats a 2-1 win over Maine. 

Quinnipiac (15-3-4) scored the game's opening goal a the 2:09 mark of the second period when an errant pass by Scarborough's Jacob Rutt allowed Kellen Jones an uncontested shot on Black Bears goalie Martin Oullette.  The senior stopped the first try, but Jones put away the second. 

Less than eight minutes later, Maine leveled the game on a short-handed break.  Connor Leen set up Devin Shore on a one-timer that beat Quinnipiac goalie Michael Garteig. 

Maine outshot the Bobcats 30-28.  Oullette (9-7-2) made 26 saves. 

The Black Bears next game will be at Frozen Fenway, Saturday January 11th against Boston University.
