AUBURN, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A new coalition is being formed in Lewiston-Auburn to celebrate and promote the arts in the twin cities.

Arts & Culture Lewiston Auburn is a coalition of 18 arts and cultural groups in Central Maine.  The collaborative was announced during a news conference Thursday afternoon at the Hilton Garden Inn in Auburn.

"The launch of Arts & Culture Lewiston Auburn, this is the culmination of the community really grabbing its future and taking it forward," Auburn Mayor Jonathan LaBonte said.

Museum L-A, Lewiston Auburn Film Festival, and Franco-American Heritage Center are just a few examples of participants in the new coalition.

Arts & Culture Lewiston Auburn has launched its own website and events calendar serving as a one-stop shop for all events and cultural opportunities in the twin cities.

"It gives us a unified face to people who would utilize the opportunities, come to cultural events, and you can go to one place and find out the information," Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce President Chip Morrison said.
