Governor declares POW/MIA Recognition Day

OLD ORCHARD BEACH, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The Ballpark in Old Orchard Beach was the setting for a remembrance ceremony on Saturday for prisoners of war and soldiers who went missing in action.

Governor Paul LePage was on hand to open the ceremony, and proclaim today as POW/MIA Recognition Day in Maine.
Members of several POW/MIA families were on hand to receive medals in honor of their loved ones.

According to the Governor's Office, 140-thousand veterans live in this state and more than 500 Maine citizens are unaccounted for as either a prisoner of war or missing in action.
