a. Mark Hamill

Barbara Eden originated the role of Jeannie on the live-action version of the show.  Eden was born on Aug. 23, 1931.

Jeannie was the only character to make the transition to the cartoon spinoff.  Instead of Maj. Nelson, the cartoon Jeannie had a high school student as her master.  Hamill was cast in the role before he became famous as Luke Skywalker on "Star Wars."

Also playing Jeannie's sidekick Babu on the cartoon was Joe Besser, who had previously served as one of the replacements for Curly with the "Three Stooges."
