(KGW) Five years ago a Beaverton, Oregon girl's parents told her she would have to earn her own money if she wanted a dog. Now she has a thriving business.

To pay the $225 adoption fee for a dog, Madison Reed stitched together a plan to create colorful cotton dog collars that read, "I Want a Dog."

She not only adopted her new best friend (and business partner) Lucy with the profits, but selling collars and other accessories has also helped her keep up with veterinary bills.
