Micah Kogo of Kenya crosses the finish line at the 2013 TD Beach to Beacon 10K
CAPE ELIZABETH, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Twenty-seven year-old Micah Kogo of Kenya has won the 16th TD Beach to Beacon 10K with an unofficial time of :28:03.03.
Fellow Kenyans Silas Kipruto (:28:08.5 unofficial), Emmanuel Mutai (:28:22.0 unofficial), and Stephen Kipkosgei-Kibet (:28:27.1 unofficial) came in second, third and fourth. Meb Keflezighi of the U.S. finished fifth with an unofficial time of :28:37.2
The men's record time of :27:27.7 was set in 2003 by Gilbert Okari of Kenya.
Riley Masters, 23, was the first men's finisher from Maine with an unofficial time of :30:19.3. Masters is from Veazie.
Kenyan Joyce Chepkirui, 24, led the women's division with an unofficial time of :31:23.2.

Gemma Steel of the United Kingdom finished second with an unofficial time of :31:35.3. Sule Utura (:31:37.7 unofficial) and Yebrugal Melese (:31:39.5 unofficial) -- both of Ethiopia finished third and fourth. Kenyan Linet Masai was fifth with an unofficial time of :32:03.6.
The women's record time of :30:59.4 was set in 2010 by Lineth Chepkurui of Kenya.
Erica Jesseman, 24 of Scarborough, was the first women's finisher from Maine with an unofficial time of :34:17.6.
A new record was set in the men's wheelchair division. With an unofficial time of :21:53, Krige Schabort, 49, took almost a minute and a half off the record set by Patrick Doak in 2007 (:23:27). Schabort is from Georgia. Craig Blanchette of Washington state finished second (:23:46 unofficial) and John Sloan was third (:43:24 unofficial).
For the women, Cape Elizabeth's own Christina Kouros, 18, finished with an unofficial time of :41:17. The record (:28:00) was set by Laurie Stephens in 1999.
The beneficiary of the 2013 TD Beach to Beacon 10K is The Opportunity Alliance. 6,500 runners participated in Saturday's race.
