LEWISTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Because many of the Lewiston fire victims did not have a car before the apartment fires last week, many need transportation to get to the donations and services scattered throughout the city.

Hudson Bus Lines in Lewiston has stepped in to help, with several bus drivers volunteering to take people to and from shelters, the YWCA, and move in to new housing.

Terminal Manager Peter Ouellette estimates some of his drivers have worked an extra 20 hours in the last week, driving Lewiston fire victims around the city.

One driver, Bonnie LeClair, has even gone to other parts of the state to pick up donated items.

The Red Cross estimates 29 people are still staying in the emergency shelter location at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee.
