FARMINGDALE, Maine (AP) - A 3-year-old Maine girl has been rushed to a Boston hospital after being mauled by a dog in Farmingdale.
Police say the girl was attacked after she walked near the Rottweiller, which was leashed by cable to a barn at her grandmother's home. Police believe the dog broke its choker collar and attacked the girl.
Police say the girl's grandmother dove on top of her to try to protect her.
The woman was uninjured.
Police say the girl was rushed to Maine Medical Center in Portland and then to Shriners Hospital in Boston with significant injuries to her head and extremities.
Police say the Rottweiler belonged to the grandmother's boyfriend.
