WATERBORO, Maine (AP) - Maine authorities say a Waterboro woman is facing a charge of animal cruelty for shooting and killing a dog on her property.
The York County Sheriff's office says Nancy Clough called on Wednesday morning to report that she had just killed a neighbor's dog.
The sheriff's office say Clough had seen the 4-year-old Bull Mastiff mix in her yard and the dog had acted aggressively toward her.
Authorities say she knew the dog was owned by her neighbor and said it had acted aggressively in the past. She says she had called authorities before but the problem persisted.
Clough has been cited to appear in court in May on a charge of aggravated cruelty to animals.
