BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The Bangor Police Department is investigating a case in which a human fetus was found downtown Friday afternoon.
In a news release from the Criminal Investigation Division, Lt. Timothy Reid said police received a report of a woman possibly carrying a dead baby in a bag walking through Pickering Square Friday afternoon just after 2 p.m.
When police arrived on scene, they identified the woman and recovered the fetus.
The State Medical Examiner's office has been contacted, and police said there will be no further information released until an autopsy is conducted on the fetus next week.
No charges have been filed yet in the case.
