BREWER, Maine -- A truck fire in Brewer on Wednesday had firefighters working around exploding ammunition as they rushed to contain the flames.
Police and firefighters received a call that a truck parked near a home on Day Road was on fire. As firefighters worked to contain the flames, ammunitions and small propane cans in the truck were exploding.
Crews were able to put out the fire, and remove a one hundred pound propane tank from the truck before it exploded.
Captain Chris Martan of the Brewer police department said firefighters did a good job containing the flames so nearby people and properties weren't damaged.
"There was nobody injured during this incident, and no other damage to property," he said. "The vehicle was in close proximity to a structure, and fire crews did a wonderful job making sure that nothing else was damaged during this."
The truck was completely destroyed by the fire.
The Bangor police are not identifying the owner of the vehicle at this time.
