Bar Harbor kids prepare for LEGO robotics tournament

BAR HARBOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- Saturday is the 13th annual FIRST LEGO League Competition in Augusta. And a team from Bar Harbor is preparing for the big day.

There are four components to the contest. Teams have to complete a table top competition, give a presentation on ways to help senior citizens, and give a presentation on their robot, they also will be judged on sportsmanship.

Dave Gallup is one of the coaches for the Bar Harbor team. He said these kids will learn lessons they can use latter on in life.

"They learn a whole set of problem solving, and they learn a whole set of kind of attitude of learning to deal with things going wrong," Gallup said

Gallup said if the team does well enough at the competition on Saturday, they could be invited to compete at competition at LEGO Land in San Diego.
