BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Downtown Bangor. The 30 foot tall Balsam Fir Tree arrived in West Market Square Tuesday morning. It came from Plymouth. It was donated to the city by Sprague's Nursery and it will be the centerpiece of Bangor's Downtown celebration beginning this Saturday.
"The actual decorations will be going on on Thursday, but this is really the beginning of an event that will take place Saturday where we will have the festival of lights parade, done in part by Bangor Rotary and it's a real kick off for downtown Bangor and a traditional Christmas only in downtown Bangor," said City Councilor David Nealley.
The Festival of Lights Parade is this Saturday followed by the tree lighting.
