OAKLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Waterville Police say speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in a car crash that killed a 24-year-old man from Oakland.
Police say Estanislao Garcia was traveling at a high rate of speed on Webb Road in Waterville just after 1 a.m. Saturday when he slammed into a utility pole and sent his car spinning into a second pole down the street, splitting the second pole right up to the top.
Authorities say Garcia and a passenger in the car were both thrown from the vehicle.
Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger in the car was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center to be treated for injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
