NORWAY, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The Responsible Pet Care Feline Adoption Center is in need of a new home.
Volunteers say the building isn't worth repairing and there just isn't enough space.
An animal shelter in Oxford closed a year and a half ago, leaving RPC to care for animals from 12 towns. They've had to take in dogs for the first time.
RPC President, Shirley Boyce, says the fifteen year old building can't keep up. "The floors are starting to rot from the wet basement and we've really used it up."
RPC has decided to buy an old Montessori school in South Paris, about twice the size of the building they are in now. It costs $295,000 and they have already raised a third but the contract's deadline is December 7.
RPC Volunteer and the realtor, Helen Robillard, says they plan to file for an extension if they can't raise the money in time.
