ALFRED, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A prominent retired law enforcement officer says he is not the same person who is on the list of clients in the Kennebunk prostitution case.

The name 'Paul Main' appears on the partial list of Alexis Wright's alleged clients. But Paul Main, the retired York County Sheriff's Deputy who ran for sheriff two years ago says that alleged client is someone else.

Main saw his name on the list when it became public late Monday afternoon.

"When I first saw my name on the computer I laughed, and then as I got up I'm thinking, 'All my years in law enforcement, all my years, activities with children, coaching baseball, the young men that I know who are now dads today and responsible citizens, this is very misleading and I don't think it's fair.' And then I became upset, to say the least I was very upset."

Main says Howie Carr also referred to him on his Boston-based talk radio show Monday night, saying that a man who had run for York County Sheriff was on the list.

Main says he agrees with the decision to release the names of the alleged clients, because he believes people should be held accountable for their actions. But he says the court's decision not to release addresses or dates of birth was wrong. He was thankful for the opportunity to clear his name, and says he is considering pursuing legal action.
