PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A New York man who racked up more than $100,000 in fraudulent credit card charges at stores in Maine and New Hampshire has been ordered to pay the money back.
Mark Daniel, 24, is one of three people involved in the case. He was sentenced Friday in federal court in Portland, Prosecutors say Daniel and his two co-conspirators used fake American Express cards at Walmart stores in Maine and New Hampshire. In just two trips from New York to New England in April 2011, the three charged $101,610.29 on the fake cards. They bought merchandise and gift cards.
Judge George Singal sentenced Daniel to 15 months in prison and three years of supervised release. He also ordered Daniel and his to confederates to pay full restitution.
