Fit at Five: Power Plate

On this Fit at Five we check out a new piece of equipment that has recently made it's debut in Maine. It's called the Power Plate. What sets this apart from other types of training is the way it provides acceleration training through vibrations.

June Tait of Scarborough Physical Therapy is excited to have the Power Plate at her facility. She said that people of all ages and different ailments are seeing great improvements with it.

"It's one of the most exciting technological advances in rehab and fitness today."

In fact many professional sports teams have also incorporated the Power Plate into their training. Because of the vibrations and the amount of muscle contractions you get in a short amount of time you are able to get a 30-45 minutes workout in half the time.

Another cool use of the Power Plate. It's known to increase metabolism, and is being used in spas to drain the lymphatic system and reduce cellulite.
