On this Fit at Five we are going back to something you probably loved doing as a kid. Some health experts say roller skating is the equivalent to jogging in terms of health benefits. It's a complete aerobic workout, and it can burn hundreds of calories per hour. But the roller rink we are hitting isn't your average skate. This workout is called Derby Lite.
If you have dreamed of being a derby girl this workout may be just the thing for you. Retired roller derby girls Lisa "Olive" Bassett and Diane "Vex" Kibbin are about to start up their third session for Derby Lite this May. The workout is broken down into beginner, intermediate, and advanced sessions, and does all the training skills the roller derby athletes do in their training.
There is no experience necessary to be part of Derby Lite. These girls teach you how to skate. On day one you will learn how to propel yourself, stop, and even how to fall. This challenging workout will get you doing things that you never thought you could do. The result after one of these workouts...feeling empowered and exhausted all at the same time.
