From Bill's Blog:
Finally, the War of 1812. Boiling down Maine's involvement to five minutes is a bit of a rush job. We didn't learn much about this war in school. It's a really interesting war in that it really demonstrates how fragmented we were as a nation. New England did not want this war as it raised havoc with our commerce. It was interesting how many state leaders, including our first Governor William King played the political question on both sides-standing up for independence while doing business with the British behind the scenes.
