PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A Bangor native is hoping Seth Wescott's popularity will bring more attention to Team Eight Snowboards.

Greg Johnston, who grew up in Bangor makes these boards in a  nondescript warehouse on Portland's Anderson Street.  He is a one-man operation.

Customers can log on to the Team Eight website.  They design their own boards.  If they're uncertain about what to order, they are guided through the process.

Not only can customers get their personalized board based on height, weight, flex and width, they can go one additional step and have their own graphics package put right on.

"A snowboard is a big palate," says Johnson who is very pleased with the progress of his company in its first year. He has sold boards to individuals, as gifts and to companies as promotional pieces.

Having two-time Olympic gold medalist as an endorser of his boards has been a big boost.  Team Eight makes boards for recreational use and does not make the boards on which Wescott races.
