(NEWS CENTER) -- In May, NEWS CENTER's Drive for Safety campaign is focussing on the issue of texting while driving.
In a report released in January, the Maine Transportation Safety Coalition found that distraction was one of the most common contributing factors in fatal crashes in the state (second only to speeding).
Many people say they know that texting while driving takes their attention away from the road, but they do it anyway. In an effort to help Mainers remember not to engage in this potentially dangerous behavior, we are inviting everyone to download and sign the attached pledge, and keep a copy in their car.
Join the Drive for Safety team and pledge not to text while behind the wheel!
