PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Look who's building a new home on the roof of the NEWS CENTER building in downtown Portland.

We haven't named these gulls just yet, but we do have a camera up there running 24/7 so we can keep an eye on the nest.

The nest is near a drain on the base of one of our satellite dishes.

A pair of herring gulls is building this nest. According to Cornell University, the female herring gull will lay 1-3 eggs and incubate them for just over a month. The nestlings will stay in their new home for six to seven weeks. A parent normally stays with the babies until the chicks are four weeks old.

Be sure to check back soon!

UPDATE May 9: Mother Gull has laid an egg.

UPDATE May 11: There are two eggs in the nest now!

UPDATE June 7: Live chick!
